Sarah Norris - Sage Hill Counseling

Sarah Norris, Nashvillle, TN, Brentwood, TN, Murfreesboro, TN

, , , ,

Sarah helps people connect to their stories, see how they’ve made sense of themselves & their world, and confront what might be getting in their way. Sarah’s therapeutic approach is grounded in the Spiritual Root System™ and informed by narrative therapy with a blend of family systems theory, and interpersonal and existential philosophies.

Sarah is trained in EMDR, a type of psychotherapy that helps access traumatic memories and move them from emotional activation to a more rational place. In addition to trauma (e.g. painful childhood experiences or relational betrayal), she works with anxiety, depression, addiction, and women who need to reclaim their voice in relationships.

Sarah has also worked with women after primary treatment from substance abuse, including individual therapy, twelve step immersion, life skills development and group therapy.

Outside of therapy, Sarah is the Managing Director of Sage Hill Counseling.

Before pursuing a career in counseling, Sarah spent five years in the music business until she began paying greater attention to her desires, hopes, and needs. The Spiritual Root System™ has brought new life to Sarah personally and to her counseling practice

About Your Practice
How did you get into this profession?
By waking up to the loneliness that I felt in my previous career and chasing my desire to go deeper with others and bring more heart to my work.

Who has influenced your work?

How does your faith play itself out in your work?
My faith is a backdrop in the sense that I believe we are emotional and spiritual beings, which for me means God, but I also work with a lot of people who have been harmed by church and are wrestling with God, which I believe is some of the most important work we can do as humans. My clients bring their faith in to the process and I meet them there, wherever that is.
