Miriam is passionate about helping her clients tell their stories so they can be awakened to who they are. As her clients become aware of their early stories and wounds from their past, Miriam shows them how the defenses that helped them survive their childhood are now blocking them from having healthy relationships as adults.

From 2001 to 2016 Miriam worked at Center for Professional Excellence, a long term alcohol and drug treatment center founded by Dr. Chip Dodd. Miriam worked with the spouses of the patients there and also did the marriage counseling.

In 2016 Miriam joined Sage Hill Counseling in Nashville and transitioned from to a private practice using the knowledge of the Spiritual Root System that she learned at CPE.

Miriam and her husband Steve have been married many years. They have 2 adult children.

About Your Practice
How did you get into this profession?
In 1996 I started on my journey of Al-Anon 12-step recovery. Wanting to share my passion of healing was the catalyst to go back to school to get a Masters in Counseling.

Who has influenced your work?
Chip Dodd started me on this journey of the Spiritual Root System where I learned about the 8 feelings, needs, longings and desires. I got to watch him and others while working at CPE. I saw first hand how lives can be changed through the deep healing work. I also have been influenced by Harville Hendrix who developed the Imago Relationship therapy. I went through the training in 2006. The tenets of his work has been a great influence on my couples counseling.

How does your faith play itself out in your work?
Recovery has deepened my faith by giving me a way to give to God old resentments, anxiety, and self pity. This affects my work because I see the destruction when one wants to hold on the old wounds. I know the healing power letting go the old stuff.
