Laura Farrell, MFT Intern
Laura believes we are wired for relationship- with others, with ourselves and with God. She also believes that every client has a story that is powerful, unique, and impacted by his or her family. Often, life's surprises and challenges can cause us to struggle or get stuck in our story. Laura's hope is to provide a safe and sacred space for clients to look more deeply into their story and begin to heal the wounds of the heart. Laura's therapeutic approach is founded on the Spiritual Root System and shaped by narrative therapy.
Laura joined Sage Hill in August of 2020 as an intern. Previously, Laura worked in full-time youth ministry with high school-aged girls. Laura lives in Brentwood with her husband, Jono, and three children, Jackson, Emma Kate, & Charlie.

About Your Practice
I choose this profession because I have seen the powerful role therapy has played in my own healing journey and I hope to help others step into that sacred work as well.
Who has influenced your work?
There have been so many who have spoken life and truth into my journey: Dr. Rainey Brown, Phil Herndon, Dan Allender, Sue Monk Kidd, & Chip Dodd.
How does your faith play itself out in your work?
My faith plays an integral role in my work. It is my belief that knowing our worth in Christ plays a large role in our healing. God created us to be in relationship with Him, with ourselves, and with others. While my Christian beliefs influence the way I understand pain and healing, I see clients from all backgrounds and respect the views of each individual client.
I love worship music and often have it playing throughout our home. Sandra McCracken is definitely a favorite. I also love Country :)
Which TV show would you never miss?
I haven't watched a lot of TV while in Grad School...but I did love "This is Us."
What's your favorite book or author?
Sue Monk Kidd, Emily P Freeman, Henri Nouwen, & Richard Rohr
What is your favorite sport/physical activity?
I love going for a walk/hike with my sister or a friend. I also love SEC football!
What's your favorite place to visit?
Just for Fun
What is your most treasured possession?
My wedding rings- such a sweet story behind them.
If you have friends coming over, what would you cook?
I love, love, love having people over to my home. It brings me so much joy! I would probably cook something from Pioneer Woman or Ina Garten.
What pastimes or hobbies do you enjoy?
I love being outside with my kiddos, reading a good book on my porch, or spending time with my husband.
Other than your current home, if you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
The beach...or maybe someone international?
