About Your Practice
How did you get into this profession?
I've always enjoyed helping others. Being in ministry for over a decade helped me to see that counseling was something I had a gift for. Through my own heart recovery, I developed a passion for greater clinical experience and determined to go back to school for professional counseling.

Who has influenced your work?
I have had several mentors who have influenced my work. One of the most influential people was my first therapist. She held a sacred space for me to share my heart and helped me understand unconditional acceptance. Through the years I have had mentors who I meet with to this day who have not only been encouraging, but have also challenged me to grow as a person and therapist.

How does your faith play itself out in your work?
I have a Christian world view and my counseling interventions reflect that. With that being said, my client's values do not need to match mine. I continue to stay curious and eager in order to understand my client's worldview and meet them where they are in their journey.

What is your favorite type of music and your favorite singer/band?
I love praise/worship music. My favorite singer of all time is Celine Dion...she is so passionate.

Which TV show would you never miss?
I love Law and Order: SVU and reruns of Frasier.

What's your favorite book or author?
The Bible

What is your favorite sport/physical activity?
I am absolutely not into sports in any way. But I love hiking and bike riding.

What's your favorite place to visit?
Anywhere that has a beach is my favorite. When I can't get there, I love going to Chattanooga to hike.

Just for Fun
What was your first job?
My first job was babysitting.

What is your most treasured possession?
My most treasured possession is my wedding band. I lost my original one in a bunch of bananas (long story) and was devastated. The end result is that I was able to get a new, improved one. I feel like it is symbolic of so much redemption in my life.

If you have friends coming over, what would you cook?
Hmmm...I would have my husband grill somethings and I would make dessert. The rest would probably be potluck...I'm in the kitchen when I need to be, but I find creative ways to get out of it too:)

What pastimes or hobbies do you enjoy?
I love spending time with my family and friends. I'm a creative type so I enjoy singing, decorating, and painting. Anything that allows me to connect with nature and myself.

Other than your current home, if you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Again, if there's a beach, that's where I want to be!
