
Amelia Chambliss, LPC-MHSP, NCC
Amelia is passionate about working with individuals and families to increase communication and allow for healthy emotional expression. She utilizes a psychodynamic, humanistic, and family systems approach to help clients navigate life circumstances and experience symptom alleviation. She views the therapist-client relationship as the most powerful tool in helping clients to foster a sense of empowerment, identity development, and resilience.
Amelia completed her Bachelor of Science in Public Health at Tulane University. She worked in monitoring and evaluation for a nonprofit organization in Latin America before returning to get her Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmont Graduate University.
Amelia is originally from Washington, D.C. and has lived all over the United States before settling in the Nashville area. She enjoys cooking, reading, writing, and road trips.

About Your Practice
I realized that what I valued about working in Public Health, my previous job, was human-to-human connection. I am deeply relational and have always loved getting to hear people's stories. My personal experience in counseling enabled me to see how impactful it can be to gain a greater understanding of oneself and how you relate to others.
Who has influenced your work?
My mentor, Tyler Rogers. My own counselors. Authors such as Dan Siegel, Wendy Mogel, Robert Neimeyer, Irvin Yalom, and Froma Walsh.
How does your faith play itself out in your work?
I utilize a holistic method of counseling, approaching individuals as mind, body, and spirit.

What is your favorite sport/physical activity?
Anything outdoors--running, hiking, swimming, paddle boarding, walking.

My family lake house.
Just for Fun
When I was 13, I worked the front desk at the summer pool my family belonged to. My favorite part of the job was making announcements over the PA system. It made me feel very grown up and powerful to come over the mic saying, "May I have your attention in the pool area please..."
What is your most treasured possession?
A big table I have that came from one of the dorms at Tulane.
If you have friends coming over, what would you cook?
Something on the grill.
What pastimes or hobbies do you enjoy?
Reading, making collages, podcasts, long walks, cooking.
Other than your current home, if you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
A Spanish-speaking country.
