Encompassing Love - Sage Hill Counseling

Please read the words below about the power of love from Song of Solomon 8:6-7. In an intimate whisper, the words tell us about the deepest connection and richest surrender our hearts can ever make. They call us to receive and give our hearts to love. To the intertwining power of love that makes marriage work, though its mysteries must be lived out experientially more than understood.

Place me like a seal over your heart,

like a seal on your arm;

for love is as strong as death,

its passion unyielding as the grave.

It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame.

Many waters cannot quench love;

rivers cannot sweep it away.

             If one were to give all the wealth of one’s house for love,

 it would be utterly scorned.

The energy of love cannot be contained or destroyed by the painful warp and woof of living.

These words call us to a beginning that assumes the challenges the lovers will go through. The words also speak of a beginning that assumes an unvanquished finish. The energy of love cannot be contained or destroyed by the painful warp and woof of living. It is beyond the marketplace; love cannot be bought or sold. Love does not leave. Love always leaves room for forgiveness, for its own sake. As one ages, love only deepens far below the skin, becoming eyes that remember, and memories of a million stories that have no death.

As one ages, love only deepens far below the skin.
